"Awesome place! Loved the charm and historic nature of the property! The check-in is self-service with a code to get in the room. I actually liked this as it allowed us to skip the front desk and settle into our room. We stayed in the Henry Rufoote room on the top level. Really nice and comfy. Only complaint would be that the shower was tight for tall folks. Beautiful views and plenty of wraparound porches to sit and relax. Definitely would stay again. While we didnt stay for breakfast, it looked great!"

Elegant but not pretentious, First Colony Inn embodies an era of hospitality, leisure, and charm that's all but forgotten among the hotel chains and cookie-cutter vacation rentals of today. Fortunately, First Colony Inn is alive and well, serving as home base for an Outer Banks vacation the way it was meant to be enjoyed. The staff were all so kind and helpful, breakfast and the social hour were fantastic, and my room was comfortable and clean with a nice view of the ocean. The grounds have an air of peace and seclusion, but the beach is only steps away and there's plenty to do within walking distance or just a few minutes of driving."

"Convenient, excellent service! - Very conveniently located, right off the main road near restaurants and attractions. The bed was very comfortable, I don't know if it was the fresh, beach air but I slept like a baby. Breakfast was eggs, biscuits and gravy, and they had a nice spread of fruit, yogurt, cereal, coffee, and many different pastries and breads. Excellent service. "
