Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was outstanding, and room rates were very reasonable compared to other places we looked at in the area. They have a very unique old school vibe, that i cant really describe, you just have to come check them out to understand."

"A hidden gem of Nags Head! After staying 2 nights, we considered extending our stay longer. Breakfast was a delight each morning and the hostess was sweet and welcoming. 1940's music made for a back-in-time feel. And there were even amenities we didn't know about. Take a ride on a free bicycle. Follow the path to the beach just for First Colony Inn guests. And don't forget to take with you a free beach chair so you can sit and contemplate all your life choices (except the one to stay here!). It is away from the beach-side hotels that tend to get crowded, messy, and loud. But you can still see, hear, and smell the beach. Especially from one of the comfortable porch chairs or hammocks where the cool breeze will blow away your worries. So glad this historic building was saved and that we got to experience it."

"My husband and I stayed for an entire week for our wedding anniversary trip and enjoyed every single day. The room was clean and had a very charming vibe. The breakfast was made fresh each morning and was delicious! Snacks from 4pm-5pm was an added bonus. We loved the pool, and was surprised that it was not crowded. The beach access is very easy to use, and also enjoyed the beach chairs/towels that they provide. I forgot my charger to my kindle, but no problem because you can borrow books from their library. We were on the 3rd floor and the noise level was very low. Never had any issues falling asleep. We have already booked another week for next year, so glad we found a spot for a yearly trip!"

"The best way I can describe our experience at the First Colony Inn... "perfectly not perfect". We were looking for an "experience" for lodging while at the OBX but not looking for the multi-floor chain hotel experience. We do that frequently, "need a place to stay for a day or two and back on the road". Quant large rooms with everything you need except the stove. Breakfast was nothing less than "perfect". The afternoon "social hour" was a great way to meet the other guests. Would we return to the First Colony Inn?? ... in a heartbeat!!"

"First Colony Inn on the Outer Banks of North Carolina is a cozy historic Inn one block from the beach. You can hear the sound of the ocean from your hammock chairs on the very spacious wrap around porch. Each room has a unique theme. I loved the large patio area where you can enjoy a glass of wine (they have a wine social hour every night). A hot breakfast is served in their breakfast room that also offers great view of the patio gardens. We didn't have time for their pool, but enjoyed strolling hand in hand through the many quirky English and manicured gardens! It is a charming way to enjoy the Outer Banks for a weekend get away and we will be sure to visit again...soon!🌊"

"Outstanding staff, grounds, and rooms. I cannot believe how well accommodated we were during our stay. Most of the couples were very friendly and happy to hold a conversation with us. The private beach access was a definite plus when you're not looking to be around other people."

"We stopped in Nags Head for one night for my partner's birthday, and we're so glad we chose the First Colony Inn! It was nice, but not stuffy, and we really appreciated the thoughtful details like well-chosen toiletries and plenty of outdoor seating. The hot breakfast was phenomenal (still dreaming about the banana's foster bread pudding!), and private beach access was so, so nice. We'll definitely check to see if there is availability here first next time we visit Outer Banks."

"Overall a very nice BNB that is one street away from the ocean. Each room is well-decorated and unique. My unit was on the top (3rd) floor and had a nice ocean view. There was plenty of room in the living space of this unit despite the angled ceilings. One drawback was the limited, small bathroom space - especially the shower. Note that the only access to upper floors is via stairs - no elevator. Breakfast was nice and very good. Parking seems ample for registered guests based on my understanding of limited room availability on the night I stayed. I am curious about whether there is more bathroom space in lower level rooms."

"Great hotel for the money... It's like a oasis in the middle of a chaos, with highway 12 right outside. Short walk to the beach. If you got some heft to you, be careful what room you get, our shower was TINY."

"We Stayed here for a week at the end of August. I wanted a room on the second floor so that I could swing as much as I wanted. Came with 2 children and had no problem setting up beds for them. A bed pulled out from under the queen and a sofa bed. Extra sheets and quilt could be found in the room, and anything extra you just needed to ask. Family friendly and had pool toys that could be played with, Though I would suggest more toys. Breakfast was delicious everyday. Social hour was also a nice bonus, I would suggest that maybe move a few hours up so that it is not right before dinner. Really enjoyed the Library. They had several games and books to read. They also had a puzzle that we did during that time. It was really nice to relax on a couch and chairs that was not our room. Loved the proximity to the beach and local restaurants. Right off the highway but you don't hear or feel like you are. The grounds are very well kept and clean. Staff are supportive and Helpful for whatever you need. While staying they had issues with water. It was a burden for a few hours, but had people come and fix. They offered full refund for those affected that night. If you are looking for a quaint, quiet, calm, relaxing, family friendly place...this is the place. We loved our experience and so glad we chose this place to come."
