"Great stay at a place with history in the area! All the staff that helped us was very pleasant. I did not expect it to be as good as it was for the price, honestly. Nothing was dirty in our room. The room itself felt very comfortable and more like 'home' than modern hotel rooms. Speaking of modern, the TV still had a ton of channels to watch and the Internet worked fine. The walkway to the beach isn't long and it's nice that the parking lot is close without having cars right outside your window like a traditional motel. The breakfast was freshly-cooked and tasted great. They even boxed it up for us to take to our room. The wine and cheese hour was fun and they did a great job organizing both the breakfast and the wine & cheese hour. When we needed towels, the male (sorry we forgot your name) desk attendant brought them right to our door. We will use First Colony Inn again for our next visit."

"This was our first time at First Colony Inn and my family loved it! My eight and six year old thought this place was the greatest and already requested to stay again next year! First off, the inn staff were wonderful. They were pleasant, accommodating, and friendly. It was very obvious how much much they care about the inn and their guests. Anything that we needed was promptly given to us such as towels, ice, etc. Even the maintenance men were friendly and always busy doing something on the grounds. Breakfast was delightful and something to look forward to each morning. There was always a variety of delicious food items along with a hot, home-cooked breakfast. The dining area was also quaint and had 1930's-ish music playing in the background while we ate... it almost made you feel like you were back in time to when the inn first opened. Small touches like that are so original! The beach is really close too and wasn't really crowded. The pool was also great, very nice and well maintained... and of course my boys loved it! The room was unique and very spacious for four people. Only next time, I think we will book a room with a private balcony. We were on the third floor and there was no balcony to sit out from our room. So happy to have taken a gamble on the 5-star Google/TripAdvisor reviews and found everything to be true. My family really enjoyed our first beach trip together, and staying at the inn helped create happy memories for a lifetime! It was truly a relaxing getaway for a week! Thank you!"

"Beautiful gardens and outside deck. The room was large and spacious. Bathroom was great and shower nice. We could not stop talking about the comfortable bed - unreal. I did not want to get up each morning. The only secondary icee of puzzle was breakfast. This may be due to Covid but we were last shift in dining room each morning and food was never hot. Again as the situation improves, we hope then I would work on this. All else top notch. Comfortable historical beach inn. "

"This place was perfect was a couples' getaway for a few nights. Our room was very clean and we had everything we needed - plenty of space, clean bathroom, cute little porch, and kitchnette. The beach is literally a 2-minute walk from the back porch of the hotel. The area is alright, there's some dive bars and restaurants around, but it is located on a 4-lane road which can be very difficult to make a left out of (which is the direction everything is in). The hotel itself is wonderful, though, and the staff is going above and beyond to make safety a priority."

"My husband and I had never been to 1st Colony Inn. Bill found it online and having gone to OBX for years staying in rental houses or on the beach hotels, he found what we call in all the positive ways "a hotel for grown-ups." Not to say there weren't kids enjoying the space - there were - but rooms with 4 poster beds, wine and cheese hour, gorgeous views, huge manicured lawns - fountain, gardens, hideaway rocking chairs, lovely pool and the staff! We stayed here for our 40th wedding anniversary and did not know that our adult children would surprise us with champagne, a dozen roses and Godiva chocolates! All put together artistically in our room by Kanda who also made and served the breakfast - covid style. Cannot wait to go again."

"We first heard about the Inn back in December when we came to check out venues and meet with wedding planners for our wedding, Samantha & Taylor from Coastyle Weddings & Events recommended the Inn. We went to visit it and knew it was the one! Everyone there is so welcoming, we LOVE Kanda, she's awesome. We have stayed at the Inn a couple times so far and it has been great! Very clean, the breakfast and afternoon social are a plus too. Still very organized and a nice stay with all the new rules right now! We can't wait for our wedding and to stay there for years to come."

"Our room was very cozy. The location was in a great spot. However, the breakfast service was overwhelming. They only had one person that was handling breakfast service and the front desk. I really hope they can get more help, this can be very stressful for one person to handle. Overall we enjoyed our stay. "
