"My wife and I spent the weekend here to celebrate our anniversary and absolutely loved it! It’s a great place to stay at the beach and the location is perfect. We echo all the 5 star comments on this thread. What surprises me is that there are no comments about any unexplained experience. Early Sunday morning I woke up to rush of wind across my legs and a few minutes later, it happened again. I thought it was odd since the a/c was blowing the other direction but what happened next was crazy! Right after the second rush of wind, something was tapping the sheet between me and my wife and the tapping started at my feet and ended at my knee. It felt like a cat was walking between us. I looked the third time this happened and it stopped. I layed there wondering what the heck it was and it did it two more times. I kicked under the sheets on the fifth time and it stopped. We stayed on the third floor and, like I said, I’m surprised nobody has said anything about this but I’m curious if anyone else experienced something similar."

"Stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed so many things. The wrap around porch with a variety of chairs, the delicious breakfast each day, and happy hour. We also used the beach cruisers each morning for a long ride along the bike path/sidewalk. The grounds are spacious too. The hotel is close proximity to the beach. The staff was very friendly."

"The First Colony Inn is a lovely old property in a great location for visiting the Outer Banks. Our room was spacious, clean and well appointed. Buffet breakfast choices were very good and the hot option varied each day. There's a wonderful beach opposite the inn and a good selection of restaurants and shops nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return."
